"...the public appreciated the spectacular with cheers of brilliance, so original and full of life, the show was very well recieved. The dance re-creates the story of immigration using an original art formthat was welcomed with enthusiastic applause"
IL Globo, Italian Newspaper
"That is a very fine balance and it was masterfully done."
"Ela Rose's strength lies in his ability to relate to the audience.."
[Editor's note:The reviewer took her ten-year old daughter Abbey with her, who loved the performance and has offered her own review - "It was very funny and I liked how they included the audience. I also liked the dance at the end which was extremely fun. He got everybody to stand up and do a nonsense dance about making sauce, pasta and sausages."]
“Riverlinks presented Ciao! cabaret-style in partnership with the Shepparton Italian Social Club at their venue. The Club provided the Italian cuisine and operated the bar and the show was ideal for this setting although it would translate equally well to the stage in a concert format. The production is a mixture of story-telling, dance and comedy and was well received by the mixed Italian and traditional theatre audience.”
Stephen Donelly, Riverlinks
A crowd of over 100 people enjoyed the EPR Production of “Ciao’ in the Willaura Memorial Hall on Saturday October 11th.
The Melbourne based Company, lead by Emilio Ela Rose, has been touring the show during 2014, and local residents were fortunate to have the opportunity of enjoying such a performance ‘in their own back yard’.
‘Ciao’ combined dance, drama and audience participation in a show that was at times emotionally charged, extremely funny, and certainly captivating.
Eight performers played a number of characters, and combined to give the appreciative crowd an insight into the challenges and joys facing newly arrived Italian immigrants into Australia in the 1950’s.
The production was brought to Willaura by the Willaura and District Community Development Group, in conjunction with the Ararat Performing Arts Centre, Willaura/Lake Bolac Community Bank Branch and ACE Radio.
The Development Group added to the evening by creating an Italian Cafe themed atmosphere, and providing Italian nibbles, pizza, and gelato.
Crowd feedback was most positive, and many relished the opportunity of chatting to the cast members afterwards about the experiences revealed in the show.
The Ararat Advertiser
"The Audience thoroughly loved the show and were totally engaged with the story, the characters, the music and the beautifully placed humour that ran throughout the performance.
This production truly touched the heart of a generation of migrants that came so far, gave so much for a better life for their families and has contributed so much to our country.
It was clear that there were many patrons in the audience that were connected to this story through their own experience.
It was wonderful to see this audience arrive with their children and grandchildren and reflect on a personnel journey through this production that opened so much emotion.
A moving experience for all"

We greatly appreciated the support of VSF (Victorian Seniors Festival) in providing access to CIAO theatrical performance this year. It was great to offer a live performance as part of the program. EPR Productions were professional to work with, flexible with their needs and giving of their time so our team could plan the event to a high standard. We would be supportive of VSF sponsoring similar opportunities into the future, especially as EPR production offer a wide variety of interactive workshop style program opportunities as well as their theatre performance. This may be worth looking into for the coming year.

Thank you very much for your attendance last week, the participants absolutely loved the whole presentation and performance. It was definitely one of the stand out nights in recent memory.
Thank you once more and we will definitely be in touch in the future to see how we can engage with you again and have you return to Twilight or engage with some of our other events and activities, particularly as so many participants requested just that on their way out last week!
We look forward to working with you again in the future.

“…I was lucky enough to see Emilio in his new Show CIAO with my husband who is 8th generation Australian and my 8 year old son and we all enjoyed the show. It was educational but at the same time humorous and very moving"
